The 2021 AMEB Online Orchestra
The 2021 AMEB Online Orchestra’s performance of ‘Morning Star and Evening Star’ was revealed on November 3 at a ceremony on the Gold Coast.
Performers from all over Australia and beyond played their part and contributed their talent and enthusiasm to AMEB’s biennial community orchestra project.
Written by Candace Kruger, Lann Levinge and Isobella Kruger, ‘Morning Star and Evening Star’ is a song based on a Yugambeh lullaby which was handed down through generations of Aboriginal families in the Yugambeh language region.
We are so proud to present this performance to the world!
Morning Star and Evening Star
The 2021 orchestra performed a new song commissioned by AMEB called ‘Morning Star and Evening Star’ written by Candace Kruger, a Yugambeh yarrabilgingun (songwoman) and indigenous ethnomusicologist from South-Eastern Queensland, along with co-writers Lann Levinge and Isobella Kruger. The song is based on an Aboriginal lullaby sung to Lottie Eaton (nee Levinge), who then shared it with her family members including Candace and Lann.
We feel very privileged to have launched this brilliant song into the world.
