About the AMEB Online Orchestra

Online Orchestra launch at Federation Square 2018

AMEB Online Orchestra

Celebrating our amazing AMEB Community.

The first AMEB Online Orchestra was launched in 2018 as part of our Centenary celebrations. What better way to celebrate our 100th Birthday than by bringing together musicians from all over Australia to perform ‘Waltzing Matilda’ together.  After the success of the inaugural project we followed it up in 2019 with a performance of ‘I am Australian’. 2021 will see our third community performance with a new Aboriginal song, ‘Morning Star and Evening Star’

I Am Australian - 2019 Waltzing Matilda - 2018

2021 Morning Star and Evening Star

Handed down through generations of Aboriginal family members from the Gold Coast region of Queensland, the story of two stars seen in the Australian skies form the narrative of our song.

‘Morning Star and Evening Star’: Lyrics adapted by Candace Kruger. Composed by Candace Kruger, Lann Levinge, Isobella Kruger © 2020

AMEB’s Orchestral Arrangement

AMEB has an incredible team of arrangers, typesetters, graphic designers and media experts who pull together the AMEB Online Orchestra project.  Led by our Head of Publishing Steven Hodgson, Morning Star and Evening Star has been transformed into an ingenious orchestral arrangement suitable for all musicians from clarinettists in their first year of learning to professional orchestras.  And if you don’t play an instrument you can always sing it!  Thanks goes to Alex Garsden and David Howell for their contributions.
